In 1994, following a great deal of thinking by many and after significant efforts by Ram S. Arya, the North American Jat Charities (NAJC) was incorporated in New Jersey as a non-profit and tax exempt organization. The need for this organization had been present for several years and many members of the community had hoped to be able to pool resources through a charitable tax-exempt vehicle for the benefit of our community in India, North America, and elsewhere. It is fervently hoped that the charitable instincts rooted in our hearts will be manifested through contributions to the NAJC for the charitable causes it has been incorporated for.
The current goals of the NAJC are to:
- Provide relief to the poor, distressed or underprivileged, particularly in the community.
- Eliminate prejudice and discrimination in any form or shape.
- Create educational facilities, particularly in Indian villages.
- Provide scholarships to qualified Jat students in India.
- Provide health care facilities in Indian villages.
- Establish a resource pool for providing assistance, financial and non-financial, to needy youths in the community to further their educational and scientific interests.
